FC Barcelona fans continue to await their return to their beloved Spotify Camp Nou as the club has been unable to meet any of the previous deadlines it set for this return, but it seems like this event is not far off now.
The Blaugranes played their last home game, against Valencia, at the Estadio Johan Cruyff, and are set to play the upcoming game against Getafe this weekend at the same venue, as the Catalans await the approval of the final construction certification (CFO) from the College of Architects of Catalonia (COAC). This certification, already verified by Dekra, could be submitted to the Barcelona City Council this week.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are hoping to get this NOC before the match against Real Sociedad on 28th September. There is a high chance that this match might be played at Camp Nou, as Montjuic would be holding the annual pyromusical festival, thus ruling it out as a potential venue.
However, their first home UCL game against PSG is still not likely to be played at the Camp Nou, as the first occupancy permit would allow only 27,000 spectators, distributed across the south goal and main stand, while UEFA requires a minimum of 45,000 seats for group-stage matches.
Thus, Montjuic would likely host this game, while the club hopes that the rest of the League Phase home games will be played at the Camp Nou.
Negotiations are already underway with UEFA for this purpose, and the third match of the League Phase against Olympiacos, scheduled for 21st October, can be played at the real home of Barcelona.
