FC Barcelona are enjoying a strong season on the pitch, already adding the Spanish Super Cup 2026 to their trophy cabinet, while important progress continues to be made away from match action as well. One of the clearest signs of that progress is the gradual return of activity at the Spotify Camp Nou.
The Blaugranes have not played at their iconic stadium for more than 40 days, with the last home match coming against Osasuna on December 13th. Their next appearance there is scheduled for January 25th, when Real Oviedo visit Barcelona.
This long spell without home fixtures has allowed construction work to move forward with fewer interruptions. Although the pace slowed briefly over the Christmas period, recent days have seen visible advances.
In a video published on social media, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, the third tier can now be seen taking shape, with cranes installing the prefabricated seating that will eventually restore the stadium to its full scale.
During this period, Barcelona have been on the road for all competitions, and the results have been excellent. Victories have come away from home against Guadalajara, Villarreal, Espanyol, and Racing Santander, while the Spanish Super Cup was also won in Saudi Arabia. Further away trips to Real Sociedad and Slavia Prague are still to come before the team finally returns to Camp Nou.
Behind the scenes, the club is also working closely with the City Council to increase the stadium’s permitted capacity. Barcelona have already submitted all the required documentation to obtain license 1C, which would raise the allowed attendance from 45,000 to 62,000 spectators. A visit from the City Council is expected in the coming days to assess the current state of the works.
Despite the visible progress, the reopening of the North Stand is now considered very unlikely for the match against Real Oviedo. One of the main pending issues is evacuation on the Maternitat side, which still needs approval from all relevant authorities. If everything moves in the right direction, the North Stand could instead become available sometime in February.
All signs point to the Spotify Camp Nou steadily moving closer to full functionality, with both sporting success and infrastructural development reinforcing optimism around the club’s immediate future.
