Campbell header lifts West Bromwich Albion as City slip to 16th

West Bromwich Albion beat Bristol City 1-0 at Ashton Gate on Saturday to climb from 21st to 20th in the Championship table, as City slipped to 16th.
In the 26th minute, George Campbell headed in from very close range after Callum Styles' cross following a corner.
Radek Vítek made five saves to keep City in the game. Josh Griffiths preserved the lead by tipping away Ross McCrorie's drive (57.).
City introduced Cameron Pring, Sinclair Armstrong and Max Bird at the break. They enjoyed 54.2% possession but mustered only one effort on target.
After the restart, Vítek also smothered strikes from Danny Imray and Isaac Price during a sustained spell of West Bromwich Albion pressure. The visitors carried the greater threat throughout.
West Bromwich Albion tallied 20 attempts, with six on target. City finished with four attempts.
