Canada 0-3 Morocco ratings: Ounahi delivers, David off the pace | OneFootball

Azzedine Ounahi hit a brace as Morocco beat Canada 3-0 in the World Cup last 16 on Saturday, with Jonathan David largely ineffective.

According to L'Équipe, goalkeeper Yassine Bounou produced two early decisive saves, notably a one-on-one against Oluwaseyi on 10 minutes, and commanded his area, later denying Tajon Buchanan on 79 minutes.

Canada threatened sporadically before the break, with Jonathan David slow to react to an early opening on 5 minutes and Maxime Crépeau struggling to deal with a Soufiane Rahimi effort on 29 minutes. Luc De Fougerolles caused problems from set plays with aerial flick-ons.

The turning point came on 50 minutes when De Fougerolles conceded an avoidable free-kick. Ounahi scored on 50 and 82 minutes. Brahim Diaz supplied the assists for the final two goals.

For Morocco, Ayyoub Bouaddi impressed with intensity and ball recovery, and was replaced by Amrabat on 63 minutes. Redouane Halhal endured a difficult night, booked early and uncomfortable in and out of possession.

For Canada, Crépeau conceded three from four shots on target and was later spared by his crossbar from a Rahimi header on 85 minutes. David dropped deep and offered himself but was wasteful, including a free-kick sent over on 78 minutes. Ali Ahmed had little influence despite plenty of running and pressing.
