Francesco Camarda is seen as the next big thing for AC Milan and the Italian National Team, but across the board, there must be patience, given the striker is still only 16.

In recent memory, few footballers, let alone Italian footballers have been spoken of in the way that Camarda is being spoken about. The 16-year-old is among the most exciting teenagers in football currently, and he has not transitioned into senior football.

Perhaps, he could make that step, but the idea from Milan is that he will feature – being the first keyword – when he is ready – that being the second keyword. Whilst hopes are high, they will only become true if the pressure is minimal, and the timing is right.

Nowadays, seeing young teenagers appearing for senior teams is becoming more common, and Camarda already has an appearance in Serie A. This season there could be more opportunities, but this will only be if he is ready, and Paulo Fonseca and the management decide the time is right.

Fabio Capello offered his verdict on the matter when speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, and his words have been relayed by Radio Rossonera.

“Camarda needs more time. It’s not like he can make the triple jump, i.e. from Serie C to the national team. In the meantime, I hope he does well with Milan Futuro and then in Milan, which also needs good Italians. Young people must be allowed to mature slowly.”
