Cardiff City are reportedly interested in a move for Elfsborg winger Camil Jebara ahead of the January transfer window

Cardiff City will be looking to make use of the upcoming January transfer window in an effort to further bolster their ever-strengthening bid for promotion back to the Championship, which has accelerated in recent weeks amid a four-match winning run and a four-point lead at League One's summit.

As we head underway in the festive period, the Bluebirds have established themselves as the team to beat in League One this season. There have, of course, been some patchy results and occasional inconsistencies but, by and large, Brian Barry-Murphy's side have been dominant and are proving increasingly difficult to topple.

Their ambitions of gaining promotion at the first time of asking could be boosted next month, with Cardiff already making enquiries on targets ahead of the winter window.

The Bluebirds made only three signings over the summer in the form of Omari Kellyman, Gabriel Osho and impressive shot-stopper Nathan Trott, while letting a litany of senior players out the door and retaining prized assets such as Rubin Colwill, Ronan Kpakio, Dylan Lawlor, Alex Robertson and Yousef Salech.

Cardiff City make contact for IF Elfsborg, Camil Jebara transfer deal

According to a recent report from Swedish outlet Expressen, Cardiff have made initial contract over IF Elfsborg's Camil Jebara.

It's said that the Bluebirds have enquired over the highly-rated winger's services and are seeking reinforcements ahead of January, with Jebara emerging as a target on Barry-Murphy's transfer radar.

Contracted to Swedish top-flight outfit Elfsborg, Jabara spent the most recent campaign on loan in the second-tier with Kalmar FF. Aged 22, Jabara impressed for Kalma, who reportedly want to retain his signature after contributing two goals and eight assists from 27 outings.

Jabara's current contract with Elfsborg expires in 2027 and a number of clubs abroad, including Cardiff, have been alerted following his performances out on loan at Kalma.

It's perhaps no surprise to see Cardiff in the market for fresh options out wide, with Ollie Tanner having missed the bulk of the season through injury.

The likes of Chris Willock, Cian Ashford and Isaak Davies, along with Chelsea loanee Kellyman, have all impressed in stages, although adding more pace and directness in the wide areas has been a vocal demand from supporters and Jebara could fit the bill.

At this moment in time, the one-cap former Sweden u21 international represents an unknown quantity on British shores, although Cardiff may be rather encouraged to push a deal over the line amid the success of their most recent recruit from the Scandinavian country.

Cardiff City can repeat Yousef Salech transfer trick with Camil Jebara

That player is, of course, the aforementioned Salech, who has proved a resounding success ever since his reported £3.3 million arrival from Swedish outfit Sirius last January.

Salech instantly hit the ground running following his switch and the Danish-born frontman made a huge impression with eight goals from 20 Championship appearances towards the back-end of the campaign, even if his goals proved not enough to keep the Bluebirds afloat in the second-tier.

A mixed start to life in League One followed, with Salech deciding to stay amid speculation surrounding his future, but the 23-year-old is now leading the line with great aplomb once more, and sits joint-top of the third-tier goalscoring tally with nine strikes inside 18 matches to date.

Salech has ended up becoming a remarkable signing for Cardiff and Jebara could join with similar skeptics, but the Bluebirds will clearly be hoping to repeat the same trick and strike gold from Swedish football once more.
