Corinthians thrashed América-MG 4-0 at Neo Química Arena on Monday in the Brasileirão Feminino, but an injury to Carol Nogueira, deployed at right-back, dominated the night.
The forward felt sharp pain in a knee on 21 minutes and was replaced by Ivana Fuso, also filling in. Nogueira left the pitch in tears and was later carried by two team-mates. "We have to wait for the imaging, we cannot work with guesswork. The priority is to calm her and let the medical staff do their job," said head coach Emily Lima, speaking to Timão Delas.
Nogueira later used social media to call for respect and peace, saying she had been hurt and that the severity was still unknown. She thanked those sending messages of concern and support, adding that prayers and love would help at a delicate time.
She had not played for Corinthians since August 2025 because of personal matters. When she returned to availability she was not used by then coach Lucas Piccinato. Under Lima she received a first chance back in the side, only to be forced off before the break.
Corinthians now turn to Friday’s fifth round trip to Botafogo at Nilton Santos at 19:00 in Rio, likely without Nogueira, as they look to build a winning run and close on the leaders.
