SkyFi Castalia delivered a top-flight feel as Castellón hosted Racing, promotion fever filling a sold-out ground, and the night ended with an apparent on-pitch fracas after the whistle.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, hours before kick-off fans greeted the squad on arrival and Fondo 1922 led a corteo from the fan roundabout.

Both teams emerged to a striking tifo themed around local identity, nodding to Magdalena with no home game during the festivities, and the federació de dolçaina i tabal de Castelló performed popular songs and the anthem.

Before kick-off, Brian Cipenga collected the league’s February player of the month award for the division, the first Castellón player to claim it this season.

After full time, with the referee already in the dressing room, the conduct of Iñigo Vicente and someone close to him apparently sparked a skirmish on the pitch, which was not noted in the report. The official did record coach Pablo Hernández’s red card for leaving his area and telling the fourth official it was a disgrace.

Castellón also appealed for a red for Suleiman’s heavy challenge on Cipenga and a handball by the same player in the build-up to the first goal, while Salvador Lax Franco’s display was contentious.

The battle at the top opened on Friday with Almería drawing at Albacete, and today brings another key chapter as Deportivo visit Real Sociedad B. Castellón visit Real Sociedad B next Saturday at 16.15, with Sienra and Camara back from bans, but Mellot and Lucas Alcázar suspended.
