According to Globo.com, the CBF will use Tuesday’s Palmeiras v Flamengo Under-17 match at Nubank Parque, kick-off 11:00, to test semi-automated offside. The system will be for internal use only and will not be applied to the game.
It will also be the stadium’s first official fixture since its renaming. Palmeiras’ first team are scheduled to play there on 26 July, when they host Atlético-MG in the Brasileiro.
Under the semi-automated offside rule, the CBF will restrict top-flight matches to venues equipped with the technology. There is no start date yet, but implementation is in its final phase.
Cameras are being installed at 19 stadiums used by the 20 Série A clubs, with costs covered by the CBF. Palmeiras have chosen to fund installation at Arena Crefisa Barueri too, where they play when Nubank Parque is occupied.
Palmeiras lead the age-group Brasileiro with 18 points from seven matches, six wins and one defeat. They have scored 25 and conceded 12. Ícaro, João França, Juan Ramos and Thauan are joint top scorers with four goals each.
