CD Castellón are accelerating their winter exits while focusing on Sunday’s game against Real Zaragoza. Óscar Gil has already left for Real Murcia and two further departures are close.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, Nick Markanich is close to finalising a move back to the United States with Houston Dynamo of MLS, in principle on loan with an option to buy.

Markanich arrived last winter and has played 25 competitive matches, scoring two goals, both last season. One sealed survival against Eldense.

Another exit nearing completion involves Kenneth Mamah. The 27-year-old Nigerian impressed early last season before injury, scoring four in 24, and has one in 14 this term, the winner at Cultural Leonesa.

He is expected to return to football in Türkiye, with Vanspor FK his likely next club. The versatile player has climbed from amateur football in Nigeria via lower-tier Italy to Göztepe in Türkiye, overcoming two serious injuries.

These moves will widen Castellón’s room to manoeuvre on wages and squad spots for incoming business. So far, the first addition is defender Ismael Fadel from Yeclano, registered with the B team, who debuted last weekend.
