Álvaro García Arana, the Primera RFEF’s leading scorer, could become a CD Castellón player. Ideal de Granada reports that Castellón have moved in recent hours for the Mérida striker, who is also on Segunda clubs’ radar, notably Granada.
The 26-year-old has 13 goals this season, 12 in the league and one in the cup. The 1.92 metre forward was born in Colindres, Cantabria, in October 1999 and came through Racing Santander’s academy.
He later featured at youth level for Tropezón and Colindres, then joined Laredo, where he debuted in Segunda B with 25 appearances and five goals. A first move away from Cantabria took him to UE Costa Brava, where he played 34 Primera RFEF games and scored once.
He returned to Laredo in Segunda RFEF, netting four, before spells at Arenas de Getxo, six goals, and SD Logroñés, where he won promotion and hit 17. His form earned a switch to Mérida, where he has shone in the first half of the campaign.
Córdoba and Granada are among the Segunda sides to have tracked him. The Andalusian club’s poor league position has weighed on the situation. Should a deal be completed, his arrival at SkyFi Castalia would bolster the forward line after Nick Markanich left on loan to Houston Dynamo in MLS.
