Ceará sign former Flamengo forward Wendel Silva on loan

Ceará have added former Flamengo forward Wendel Silva as they step up for the new Série B campaign. According to Coluna Do Fla, the 25-year-old arrives on loan from Santa Clara, with the deal running until the end of this season's competition.

Flamengo handed Wendel his first chances at under-15 level in 2015. He progressed to the under-20s and made his senior debut in 2020, featuring in three matches without scoring.

Wendel subsequently moved to Leixões in Portugal, then spent time on loan at SC Covilhã. He also had spells with Porto and Santos before linking up with Santa Clara.

The forward arrives with experience in Brazil and Portugal across youth and senior levels.

Meanwhile, Flamengo face Botafogo on Sunday 15 at 17:30 Brasília time at Nilton Santos, a quarter-final in the Campeonato Carioca.
