Celta de Vigo condemned flares thrown by some of their supporters during Thursday’s Europa League last-16 second leg at OL, and began moves to identify those responsible.

The Galicians won 2-0 on the night after a 1-1 first leg, sealing qualification. According to Le Progrès and Actu Lyon, one visiting supporter was attacked in Lyon, struck with a plank and stabbed at least once in the arm and foot.

In a Friday statement, the club described the evening as tarnished by regrettable incidents, specifying that flares were launched from their designated section at Groupama Stadium.

It added that it would do everything possible to identify those involved and take measures to prevent a repeat, and had contacted the French authorities and Olympique Lyonnais to request images to help identify the individuals.

The club also denounced the violent assault on several of its fans in the city and said all of its travelling supporters were able to return to Vigo.
