Martin O’Neill enjoyed a glorious return to Paradise as his revamped Celtic side hammered Falkirk, 4-0. The ongoing internal war was far removed from the mind of the venerated Irishman as he brought joy back to the faithful on a night where it could have all gone wrong.

Prowling his area like a millennial panther, Martin had his cubs playing like lions as they devoured a very decent Falkirk eleven, one led by John McGlynn, a man I admire.

Two-goal Johnny Kenny will feel vindicated after the disgruntled groans from the stands up until now-it’s amazing what good service does for your confidence! Kenny was relentless as he sought to prove his worth, and his goals were sterling, striking like the predator Larsson, and bulleting home a Sutton-esque header.

Let’s not get carried away with that, but his overall play was exceptional. Can he do it on a damp, dreary Sunday afternoon at Hampden?

Saracchi at full-back was immense, demonstrating what we missed against Hearts at the weekend. The Uruguayan defended like his life depended on it, and got up and down the flanks like a seasoned pro. He’ll do for me.

The speed of thought around the pitch was so heartening. No boring chess passes around the back; instead, the ball was shipped to the forwards quicker than you can say, resurrection.

Trusty and Scales proved that they can indeed merge to form an impenetrable barrier, despite being both left-footers; I’ll leave that thought with you…

Tounekti revelled in the freedoms he was allowed by the ‘new’ boss and showed his class once again. His goal was imperious, as was the service from Luke McCowan.

Nygren…when he recovers his confidence and, despite his goal, finds his shooting boots, can be a banging player. The Swede’s overall play was good, particularly servicing the strikers, and some of his passing was on point.

Loved Jamesy’s fire and commitment – he is invaluable when the chips are down – as they are right now.

Hearts dropped two points at St Mirren, bringing Celtic closer to what we hope will be the inevitable. Is the tide turning? I think so, but the Jambos are still the benchmark this season.

With Martin O’Neill revitalising a depleted squad, I fully expect a rampant win over the Rory Bremners on Sunday. They dodged a bullet against Hibs who missed a late penalty and are there for the taking. I expect goals.

Enjoy the recovery my friends and buckle-up. It’s gonna be one helluva ride!
