Celtic has agreed a sensational £11m deal to sign Kasper Hogh. The Bodo/Glimt hitman has been tracked by Celtic since January with the Norwegians unwilling to sell their star striker at that time due to their Champions League exploits…

Now, Record Sport, claiming an exclusive, reports that Celtic are ready to break their transfer record and sign the 25-year-old for £11m plus add-ons.

An agreement has been reached and the Danish International is set to complete a medical ahead of a move. Hogh, who scored six goals in the UCL last season, will then sign a long term deal at Celtic Park.

And Anthony Joseph at Sky Sports confirms that the deal has been done subject to a medical to bring the Denmark international striker to Parkhead.

Joseph reports:  ‘Celtic have agreed a club record fee of £11m, plus add-ons, for Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Hogh. The 25year old is keen to join the Scottish champions and is pencilled in for a medical in the coming days.’

Earlier today, Celtic confirmed the sale of Daizen Maeda to Ipswich Town. The Japanese star leaves for £8m plus £2m in add-ons. The 28-year-old will be a major loss given his attributes and personality. However, it was expected that he would move on after four and a half successful years in Scotland.

It’s no coincidence that the Hogh deal was announced immediately after Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town formally confirmed that they had signed Daizen. He’ll do a great job for them that’s for sure.

Now that money will go towards funding the Kasper Hogh deal and this is a signing that will certainly lighten the mood with supporters especially if it’s the first of four new signing we can expect to be concluded before  Flag Day next Monday night against Dundee at Celtic Park.

That game has tickets on remaining on general sale – unheard of for Flag Day when they are immediately snapped up. Today’s match against an understrength AC Milan will have a much lower crowd than otherwise expected and that’s down to the ongoing poor communications between the club and the supporters or customers if you prefer.
