Carter-Vickers had his achilles operation last week after picking up the injury in the previous Europa League contest against Austrian champions SK Sturm Graz at Celtic Park. Celtic’s Big Strong Man was seen at Hampden on Sunday with his leg in plaster as he watched on as Martin O’Neill’s Celtic side put on a show to knock theRangers out of the Premier Sports Cup at the semi-final stage.

The game was effectively settled when young substitute Callum Osmand brilliantly anticipated Kieran Tierney’s brilliant ball fired across theRangers six yard box to give Celtic a two goal cushion and ultimately a 3-1 victory.

Callum Osmand joined Johnny Kenny at the opening of the new Celtic Flagship store in Glasgow city centre yesterday afternoon and speaking to Conor Spence from The Celtic Star, he revealed that he would probably be on the plane to Denmark today and would be a late addition to the squad.

That has now been officially confirmed by Celtic this morning with the club stating:

“We can confirm that striker Callum Osmand has replaced Cameron Carter-Vickers on our UEFA player list following Cameron’s unfortunate long-term injury.”

Shaun Maloney, in an interview with Celtic TV which we featured on The Celtic Star this morning, explained why he recommended Osmand to incoming interim manager Martin O’Neill, believing that his former manager at Celtic two decades before, would absolutely love the young striker.

A delighted Osmand got his first professional goal on Sunday at Hampden and described it as the best day of his live. Now he’s been added to the Celtic squad and will be looking to get on the scoresheet in his first European match tomorrow night.

He’s certainly living the dream at Celtic!
