Celtic have joined the queue of sides monitoring the progress of Hibernian midfielder Josh Mulligan, according to a report…

The 23-year-old has enjoyed an impressive rise since arriving at David Gray’s side in the summer, quickly establishing himself as one of the standout performers in the Scottish Premiership after making the move from Dundee.

As per the Daily Mail, Celtic’s interest has already been noted as well as clubs south of the border, including Leeds United and Nottingham Forest, though Hibs remain relaxed about the situation and are under no pressure to sell him.

With Mulligan tied down until 2029, the Easter Road hierarchy are understood to be content to delay any potential sale until the summer window at the earliest, ensuring maximum value for a player seen as central to their plans.

The Ibrox club had previously explored a deal for the midfielder in the summer, but he instead committed his future to Hibs by agreeing a long-term contract, following a compensation agreement with Dundee later in the year.

Since then, Mulligan has become an influential figure for Hibernian, delivering a series of strong performances that have propelled him into the senior Scotland setup.

Although he did not feature, his inclusion in Steve Clarke’s squad for the World Cup qualifier against Belarus in October underlined his growing reputation.

Sebastian Tounekti impresses for Tunisia

In other news, Tunisia’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign suffered another blow, but there was a notable individual bright spot as Celtic winger Sebastian Tounekti caught the eye with his contribution.

Nigeria edged a pulsating Group encounter 3–2 on Saturday night, finding the net through Victor Osimhen, Wilfried Ndidi and Ademola Lookman. Tunisia responded courtesy of Montassar Talibi and Ali Al-Abdi but were unable to complete the comeback.

Celtic winger Tounekti was introduced for the final 30 minutes with his side already chasing the game, tasked with providing impetus from wide areas as Tunisia looked to get back into the game.

Although Tunisia were two goals behind when Tounekti came on, the 23-year-old played a key role in lifting the tempo in the latter stages of the match.

Tounekti and his international teammates can seal their place in the knockout stages with a victory over Tanzania tomorrow afternoon.
