Celtic have been handed yet another injury blow after Marcelo Saracchi was forced off in the first half against Kilmarnock. After just over 20 minutes, the swashbuckling Saracchi attempted to get on the end of a pass after overlapping before immediately pulling up and signalling to the bench.
Referee Don Robertson stopped the game and allowed Saracchi to receive medical treatment but the player clutched his right hamstring, suggesting his afternoon was about to come to a premature end. Kieran Tierney was stripped and ready to replace him as the substitution was confirmed.
A stretcher was on its way before the Uruguayan declined, opting to walk off himself. Hopefully that is a sign that the injury is not as bad as first feared but it is another injury blow, given that Celtic have already lost Kelechi Iheanacho, Alistair Johnston, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Callum Osmand to injuries this season. All join Jota on the absentee list, meaning that Celtic are operating with a threadbare squad at present.
Celtic are 1-0 up thanks to the opening goal from Johnny Kenny, who scored his fourth goal in as many games under the interim management of Martin O’Neill.
