The Whites and Black Cats are interested in making a move for Cameron Carter-Vickers this summer.
Leeds United and Sunderland have been linked with making a move for Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers during the summer transfer window.
The Whites are keen on recruiting a new centre-back on their return to the Premier League, with plans beginning to come into place to bolster the first-team over the next few weeks.
The Yorkshire outfit have already been credited with pursuing a move for Udinese defender Jaka Bijol, but they’re also exploring other options, which involve the USA international.
Meanwhile, Regis Le Bris’s men will be eyeing up some much-needed PL experience after ending their eight-year exodus from the top-flight, as not a single Black Cats central defender has played significantly in the top-flight following Chris Mepham’s return to Bournemouth from his loan stint.
It appears the promoted duo are going head-to-head for the 27-year-old, who could be ready to realise his Premier League ambitions once again.
As per a report by Herald Scotland, newly-promoted duo Leeds United and Sunderland are considering making moves for Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers.
The United States international has established himself as a first-team regular while at Celtic Park, with such impressive performances earning him links for a return to England.
The former Tottenham defender joined Celtic permanently after an initial loan spell and has made over 150 appearances across all competitions for the SPFL champions.
However, Celtic are expected to face an exodus of players over the summer, with the likes of Greg Taylor, Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda all expected to make their exits.
Carter-Vickers could be added to that list if a move back to either Leeds or Sunderland develops.
While it is all speculation at the moment, Cameron Carter-Vickers’ will undoubtedly have his head turned if clubs from England make concrete offers for his services.
The defender will surely be interested in either a move to Leeds or Sunderland should it develop through the pipeline, with both clubs massive and historical outfits to represent at this level.
As previously mentioned, Sunderland will require Premier League know-how to help maintain defensive solidity and give themselves the best possible chance of staying in the division at the first time of asking, so Carter-Vickers would be set to play a starring role in red and white.
Meanwhile, Leeds do possess some capable options with top-flight experience, including Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk, but in the event of a potential Max Wober departure, the addition of Carter-Vickers would allow Ethan Ampadu to resume his role in midfield, developing a vital squad balance.
