Celtic look set to utilise their connection with Scott Brown to send a promising youth talent to be nurtured by the club legend. Brendan Rodgers rates 19-year-old Jude Bonnar highly and it is expected that the Scotsman will make a temporary switch to Somerset Park to join Ayr United on loan.
According to Record Sport, Celtic will allow the central midfielder to move to the Scottish Championship in order to get him first team exposure.
Brown took a number of Celtic youngster to Fleetwood Town, including Bosun Lawal and Adam Montgomery as he assisted the Scottish Champions develop their young players. Ayr failed in their promotion bid with a playoff defeat to Partick Thistle. Broony will be hoping to make the Ayrshire club a Premiership outfit once more.
Another ex-Celt, Shaun Maloney, has recently returned to the club in the capacity as First Team Pathways Manager. Maloney, who managed in his own right with Wigan and Hibs, will be tasked with helping players follow the path that he followed, going from the youth teams to the first team.
Bonnar made 57 appearances for the Celtic youth team, scoring 10 goals and assisting on 3 occasions. The form shown with Stephen McManus’ B team warranted a call up and debut in the win over Aberdeen in February last season.
