Scottish Premiership title race goes down to the wire on final day
Celtic and Hearts face off this weekend in a blockbuster showdown for the Scottish Premiership title.
Hearts, who top the table going into the final day, are bidding to become the first non-Old Firm side to lift the trophy since Sir Alex Ferguson’s Aberdeen back in 1985.
Derek McInness is on the brink of making history for the Edinburgh club in his first term in charge, having moved to Tynecastle in May last year.
Martin O’Neill’s Hoops, meanwhile, have stuttered in their title defence after a season of instability.
Brendan Rodgers started the campaign in-post before leaving in October, and O’Neill stepped in as an interim until December before Wilfried Nancy’s short and miserable tenure.
Upstairs, Celtic also saw chairman Peter Lawwell step down, as he was replaced by interim Brian Wilson, the former Scottish Labour MP.
Celtic vs Hearts is scheduled for a 12.30pm BST kick-off on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
The match will take place at Celtic Park.
TV channel: In the UK, the game will be televised live on Sky Sports Football, with coverage starting at 11.30am ahead of the 12.30pm kick off.
Live stream: Sky Sports subscribers can also catch the contest live online via the Sky Go app.
Live blog: You can follow all the action on matchday via Standard Sport’s live blog.

For the hosts, they are without a whole host of names.
Loanees Tomas Cvancara and Julian Araujo are both out for the remainer of the campaign with groin and thigh injuries respectively.
Kasper Schmeichel’s season is over with his shoulder problem, while Jota also won’t play again this term after an ACL tear.
Colby Donovan and Cameron Carter-Vickers are doubts after hamstring and Achilles injuries, while Callum Osmand and Adam Montgomery will be hoping for returns after they were back in training after hamstring and thigh problems.
As for the visitors, Craig Halkett ruptured his Achilles against Motherwell last weekend and may be out for a year, and Marc Leonard is out for the rest of the season with a similar issue.
Ageu, Tomas Magnusson, Calem Nieuwenhof and Oisin McEntree are all out with their respective injuries.
Craig Gordon, the 43-year-old goalkeeper, is close to a return from his minor niggle, and Finlay Pollock is pushing for a comeback from his hamstring strain.
Harry Milne returned from his groin problem in the win over Falkirk.
There is just one point in it, with Hearts in the ascendancy going into the final day.
A point for McInnes’ men and they are champions for the first time since 1960.
Celtic have all of the winning pedigree, however, and have home advantage.
Luck was smiling down on them after a controversial VAR decision against Motherwell in midweek, a call that McInnes labelled “disgusting”.
Might that be a crucial turning point in the title race?
Celtic to win, 2-1.
Celtc wins: 117
