Cesar Peixoto has contacted Kieran Trippier to reassure him he remains central to Wolves’ plans after the managerial change.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, the new head coach outlined his ideas to the former England international to calm doubts after Rob Edwards’ sacking.
Trippier, 35, was the first summer signing earlier this month, only for Edwards to be replaced by Peixoto. Edwards had helped persuade him to drop to the Championship after leaving Newcastle.
Trippier will report to Compton Park early next month for pre-season. He posted Mallorca training images on Thursday and is expected to be key in a push for a swift Premier League return.
Peixoto is awaiting a work permit before officially starting, but the 46-year-old has already contacted senior players. He views pre-season as vital, with Wolves likely to return later than many rivals after finishing in late May.
He met Jackson in Portugal this week with transfer strategy discussed. Outgoings are also a focus, with several futures unlikely to be settled until after the World Cup.
Wolves could receive a windfall if former winger Chiquinho moves this summer, a year after leaving on a free. The 26-year-old is thought to be a target for Sporting Lisbon after reviving his career at Alverca.
He made only 11 appearances in three-and-a-half years at Molineux following a serious knee injury. A 50 per cent sell-on clause could now benefit Wolves, with Alverca believed to want around £8 million.
