Como president Mirwan Suwarso has publicly stated that manager Cesc Fabregas is free to leave and take over at Chelsea if he wants to.

Fabregas is a former Chelsea player, and he’s become increasingly highly regarded as a coach with a big future in the game after plenty of success in his first management job with Como.

The Spanish tactician has Como sitting in 5th place in Serie A, with his team often playing a stylish and modern brand of football under his guidance.

With Liam Rosenior sacked by Chelsea earlier this week, it’s not too surprising to see Fabregas’ name being linked with the Blues job, and it seems Como won’t stand in his way if he wants to take up an offer from Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea given Cesc Fabregas boost

Speaking to City AM, Como chief Suwarso was asked about the Fabregas to Chelsea links, and responded: “If that makes him happy, that’s him. You want your employees to stay with you for as long as possible but at the end of the day we don’t own him and he’s free to go to Chelsea if he wishes.”

This certainly sounds promising for Chelsea if they do decide to pursue Fabregas, but it’s not yet clear if the 38-year-old is one of their top targets.

The Telegraph have previously mentioned names like Xabi Alonso and Andoni Iraola as options to replace Rosenior, and both would come with more experience than Fabregas.

Still, TEAMtalk have also reported on Fabregas being admired by both Chelsea and Manchester City, as it seems inevitable he’s going to land himself a top job before too long.

Como seem relaxed about the situation, which could also make any potential negotiations smoother to get done.
