Champions League | Inter 3-0 Slavia Prague – Lautaro at the double | OneFootball

Inter maintained their winning start to the Champions League campaign with a routine 3-0 victory over Slavia Prague in San Siro on Tuesday night thanks to a Lautaro Martinez double and another European goal from wing-back Denzel Dumfries.

Chivu had a fully fit and available squad to pick from for this evening’s European tie, and went with his trusted front two of Lautaro and Marcus Thuram. Petar Sucic and Piotr Zielinski were called into the starting XI to accompany Hakan Calhanoglu.

The Nerazzurri came out looking for an immediate advantage. Half the team had a go: Calhanoglu, Thuram, Lautaro, Dumfries and Alessandro Bastoni among them, but those early attempts were lacking in composure.

Chivu had to wait half an hour to see his side take the lead in San Siro: Captain Lautaro was on hand to deliver.

Slavia goalkeeper Jindrich Stanek gifted the Nerazzurri skipper the ball within his own area, and Lautaro just had to tap home with his first touch to send Inter into the lead.

With the deadlock broken, Inter doubled their advantage less than four minutes later.

Veteran Francesco Acerbi carried the ball out from the back and into the opposition half before feeding Marcus Thuram, who travelled to the byline and cut back for Dumfries to stab home within the six-yard box.

With Inter two up just over 10 minutes from half-time, Slavia began to see more of the ball, but were unable to threaten the Nerazzurri with any of their efforts before the interval.

Lautaro was on hand once again to give Inter a three-goal advantage midway through the second half.

Thuram did well to hold the ball up in the penalty area, waited for Bastoni to overlap him, the Italy international provided the cut-back for Lautaro to poke home in the middle of the area.

Tuesday night’s victory means that Inter have a 100% record at the start of their 2025-26 Champions League campaign, which leaves them level with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich at the top of the standings ahead of Wednesday’s fixtures.
