Champions League MD 7 table: Napoli potentially out, no Serie A team in top 8 | OneFootball

Following Champions League Round 7, Serie A finds itself without a single club in the top eight, with Napoli dropping out of the top 24 altogether.

Just one match is left to play in the league phase of the Champions League, and after Round 7, no Serie A club is in the top eight, which gives direct qualification for the Round of 16.

Atalanta the best-placed Serie A team in the Champions League

Atalanta wasted a big opportunity on Wednesday as they suffered a home 3-2 loss against Athletic Club. La Dea remain the best-placed Serie A team in the Champions League standings, sitting 13th with 13 points.

Inter are right below with 12 points in 14th. The Nerazzurri won their opening four matches, but lost the following three.

Juventus beat Benfica 2-0 on Wednesday, catching Inter with 12 points but with a worse goal difference.

Napoli at risk of Champions League exit

Napoli have only earned eight points, as many as PSV, Athletic Club, Olympiacos and Copenhagen, but due to their goal difference (-5) the Partenopei are currently out of the top 24 and virtually out of the competition.

Antonio Conte’s men will play their last game in the league phase of the Champions League at home against Chelsea on Wednesday next week.

All games will be played on the same day and at the same time (21:00 CET). Juventus will visit Monaco, Inter will play away at Borussia Dortmund, and Atalanta will travel to Union Saint-Gilloise.
