Everton are close to securing their first signing of the January transfer window after a deal has been agreed for Charly Alcaraz.

According to a report from BBC Sport, the Toffees will sign the 22-year-old midfielder on a loan deal from Flamengo.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the deal also has a buy clause, which means Everton can sign him permanently if the loan move works out well.

As a matter of fact, the buy clause can become mandatory if certain conditions are met.

Alcaraz has posted a beautiful three-word message to share his love for Flamengo. He wrote: “Obrigado meu Flamengo”, which simply translates to Thank You Flamengo.

The Argentine midfielder previously played in the Premier League for Southampton before moving to Juventus on loan in the 2023-24 campaign.

He started the season with the Saints and came on as a substitute against Newcastle United. He then moved to Flamengo later in August for a club-record £16 million fee.

David Moyes has stressed the importance of signing a few players before Monday’s deadline, and the Toffees are expected to be busy in the next three days.

Everton cannot spend recklessly due to the PSR threat, and they will be trying to sign players, either on loan or on the cheap.

The Toffees need to bolster their forward department before the deadline, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Armando Broja, and Youssef Chermiti all out injured.

Alcaraz will be the first signing for the Toffees this window but fans can expect at least one more addition before Monday’s deadline.
