In a recent print edition, Estadio Deportivo claimed that Chelsea are big admirers of Rayo Vallecano left-back Pep Chavarria this summer. It has been mentioned that the Blues are keeping a keen eye on the Spanish defender in this transfer window.
The 28-year-old managed to shine at times on the left side of Rayo Vallecano’s defence in the previous campaign when he produced a run of solid displays for them in La Liga. Chavarria found the back of the net once and grabbed three assists in 44 matches for the Spanish outfit last season in multiple competitions.
The Spanish sensation is currently among the most experienced full-backs in La Liga. Therefore, the Blues would do well to lure him to Stamford Bridge this off-season.
His current contract at the Spanish club will run out in the summer of 2030, which could make it difficult for Chelsea to land him later this year.

Chavarria is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his side inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when required and is a good crosser of the ball from the left flank.
The Spanish sensation can even contribute by scoring and creating the odd goal for his team going forward. However, there are some question marks over whether he can cope with the physicality and high intensity of the Premier League if the Blues manage to get a deal done for him later this year.
We can expect Chavarria to bring more quality and depth to Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso’s defensive department. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at the West London club in the coming years.
At 28, Chavarria is playing at his peak, which makes him a worthy target for the Blues to pursue in this summer transfer period. He will also help Chelsea compete across all fronts over the next few years. However, Alonso has to give him some time to settle into life at Stamford Bridge before he can get the best out of the player.
