In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Chelsea are close to signing Strasbourg youngster Valentin Barco. It has been mentioned that the Blues are keen on securing the services of the Argentine talent in this summer transfer period.

Barco’s Impressive Rise In French Football

Barco has managed to shine at times with his performances at the heart of Strasbourg’s midfield this season. The 21-year-old has found the back of the net three times and secured nine assists in 43 matches for the French outfit in this campaign across various competitions.

The Argentine starlet is currently one of the most gifted young midfielders in French football. Therefore, the Blues would do well to lure him to Stamford Bridge this off-season.

His current contract at Strasbourg will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it tough for Chelsea to sign him on the cheap later this year.

Chelsea Are Close To Signing Barco: Is He A Prospect For The Future?

Barco is a good tackler of the ball and can make the odd interception for his team inside his half. He doesn’t hesitate to clear the danger when required and can shoot the ball with power from long range.

The Argentine sensation has got the vision to engineer some decent chances in the final third and is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet. Barco is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also function as a left-back or as a left-sided wide player if told to do so by his manager. However, there are some concerns over whether he can adapt to the physicality and high intensity of the Premier League.

Barcoa would undoubtedly enhance the quality of Chelsea‘s midfield in the long run. He is already good enough to challenge for regular first-team football at Stamford Bridge next season.

At 21, the future looks quite bright for Barco as long as he continues to improve with each year. He is a prospect to watch out for in the long run, so the Blues would be wise to get a deal done for the gifted midfielder at the end of this campaign.
