Chelsea & Como To Hold New Meeting Over Potential Trevoh Chalobah Deal | OneFootball

Chelsea and Italian side Como are scheduled to meet on Saturday over a potential deal for centre-back Trevoh Chalobah, according to reports.

Chalobah remains absent from Chelsea’s pre-season after representing England at the 2026 World Cup.

Unlike many of his teammates who are also on an extended break, however, the 27-year-old may end up not joining the squad later during the club’s pre-season tour of Australia and Asia.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Chalobah is getting closer to joining Serie A club Como, who have planned a meeting with Chelsea on Saturday, July 25 to seek an agreement over a transfer fee.

Chelsea are reported to want guaranteed €30 million (£25.6m), while Como are said to prefer the inclusion of appearance-based add-ons.

Chalobah played a big role at Chelsea last season, with the fourth-most Premier League minutes on the squad, more than any other defender.

Fellow Chelsea academy graduate Levi Colwill’s long-term injury absence played a part, of course, but Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior both still trusted him to be a regular starter.

However, Colwill is now back in the picture, and Chelsea are reportedly close to signing a new centre-back in Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace.

This puts the club under pressure to trim the squad to make space for new signings, and, unfortunately for Chalobah, he is arguably one of the more marketable players in the team.

Other fringe centre-backs could also follow, such as Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile.

Disasi has been linked with several Italian clubs, while a move to Crystal Palace on loan has been ruled out. Badiashile is also among the players Chelsea have made available.

There remain questions over the futures of young centre-backs, such as Mamadou Sarr and Aaron Anselmino.

Sarr spent the first half of last season on loan at Strasbourg, before being recalled by Chelsea in January.

He made just six appearances for the Blues, and only three of which were as a starter.

Anselmino, on the other hand, played for loan club Borussia Dortmund in the first half of last season, before finishing the season on another short-term loan at Strasbourg.

The two young defenders are in Xabi Alonso’s 27-player pre-season squad for the tour, so they’ll have their chances to convince the new manager to keep them in the first team.
