Chelsea cool interest in Alejandro Garnacho in favour of alternative | OneFootball

Manchester United are set for another summer of uncertainty this year, with a number of players to be considered for sales. Winger Alejandro Garnacho has been one of their better players this season, but the Red Devils are willing to part with him in order to strengthen elsewhere.

Garnacho’s most likely destination was at one stage Chelsea, having made an enquiry about him in January, but Caught Offside have reported that the Blues are turning their attentions to Jamie Gittens of Borussia Dortmund. The 20-year-old Englishman is likely to be available this summer for around €50m.

Garnacho has interest across Europe

The Argentina international does have interest elsewhere though, primarily from Italian side Napoli. They looked at him in January after losing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for big money to Paris Saint-Germain, and could return again.

Juventus and Bayer Leverkusen are also monitoring his situation, as are Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid. Los Colchoneros rarely miss a chance to pick up under-appreciated Argentine talent, and were linked with Garnacho back in January too.

Gittens has caught the eye of Real Madrid

During their Champions League clash earlier this season, it was reported that Gittens had impressed Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu, having caused their defence significant issues. While they do not have, and did not have, active plans to make a move for Gittens, his name was taken down as a potential future recruit if the stars aligned.

Shift in priorities for Atletico Madrid?

Having been linked with Garnacho in January, more recently Los Colchoneros have been associated with a move for another Manchester United man in Antony, who has been impressing on loan at Real Betis. Simeone tends not to play with pure wingers currently, but links to Antony and Garnacho could hint at a paradigm shift for Atletico this summer.
