Manchester United and PSG have shown interest in Christopher Nkunku this year amid ongoing uncertainty about his future at Chelsea. But is there a chance the Frenchman could head back to Leipzig in a deal involving Xavi Simons?

Nkunku joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig in 2023 for £52 million, but injuries and tough competition have limited his impact so far. With uncertainty about his role, transfer rumors are starting to circulate.

Earlier this year, journalist Ben Jacobs reported that PSG considered bringing Nkunku back but ultimately decided against it.

Meanwhile, TEAMtalk reported Saturday that Chelsea are open to selling Nkunku and might lower their asking price to around €45 million as they look to reduce their wage bill.

The report also highlights that Nkunku, who scored 15 goals in 48 appearances last season, is believed to be Chelsea’s fourth-highest-paid player. Inter Milan are reportedly monitoring the situation and could pursue a loan or other flexible deal.

With just a few weeks left in the transfer window, The Telegraph reports that Leipzig want to sign Nkunku in a swap as part of the Xavi Simons deal to Chelsea. Moreover, this isn’t the first swap deal the Blues player has been rumored to be a part of.

Mundo Deportivo previously reported that Barcelona have rejected Chelsea’s proposal to include Nkunku as part of a deal for Spain midfielder Fermin Lopez. In July, L’Équipe reported that Nkunku is expected to cost between €35 million and €40 million this summer.

Bayern Munich are among the few clubs Nkunku would be open to joining, but there haven’t been any concrete talks yet. Manchester United and Inter Milan have recently made inquiries, while Bayern Munich remain interested.
