Chelsea have opened the door to a move for Eli Junior Kroupi, making initial contact with the Bournemouth forward’s representatives.
According to CaughtOffside, the Blues are exploring a deal for one of the Premier League’s brightest young talents. Arsenal and PSG are also watching closely.
The 19-year-old has earned the attention. Kroupi scored 13 goals in his debut Premier League season after a bargain move from Lorient, splitting his time between attacking midfield and centre-forward. That breakout campaign has made him a coveted commodity.
His versatility fits Chelsea’s needs. New boss Xabi Alonso wants an attacker capable of playing as a second striker or through the middle, a profile Kroupi matches well. The Blues may even view him as an alternative to the £130m-rated Morgan Rogers.
The price, though, is formidable. Bournemouth are expected to demand a fee in excess of £100m, having watched their modest investment soar in value. The Cherries insist he is not for sale at any figure this summer.
Competition will be fierce regardless. Arsenal have long admired Kroupi as they seek fresh attacking spark, while PSG, ever keen on French talent, are reported to be his dream destination. That preference could hand the Ligue 1 champions an edge.
There is a familiar name lurking, too. Liverpool have been credited with interest, with new boss Andoni Iraola knowing Kroupi well from their time together at Bournemouth. The forward flourished under the Spaniard on the south coast.
Bournemouth have already seen change this summer. Iraola’s departure to Liverpool was followed by the exit of Marcos Senesi to Tottenham, leaving the Cherries keen to hold on to their prized asset.
His contract strengthens their hand. Kroupi is tied to Bournemouth until 2030 with no release clause, meaning any suitor faces a long and expensive negotiation to prise him away.
