Chelsea have discussed the possibility of signing Bournemouth’s Marcos Senesi, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
The Blues could bring in the 28-year-old to add key Premier League experience to a leaky backline.
Chelsea have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last eight games, with the rearguard struggling badly.
They have Jeremy Jacquet and Jacobo Ramon on the transfer shortlist, but Senesi has also been discussed.
Senesi is adept at operating in an aggressive backline and would fit seamlessly into the Chelsea set-up. He is also an excellent progressive ball distributor.
His contract with Bournemouth expires this summer, and Chelsea should seize the opportunity to sign him earlier than other suitors.
Juventus and Barcelona are pushing to sign him.
Senesi offers reliability, leadership and a left-footed balance that would immediately improve build-up play from the back.
With Levi Colwill still sidelined, Chelsea need a defender who can step in without disrupting the structure, and Senesi’s profile makes him a natural fit.
His arrival should also accelerate a clear decision on Benoit Badiashile.
The Frenchman has struggled for consistency and confidence, and selling him would free both space and funds for a more dependable option.
Senesi is calmer in duels, sharper in his positioning and far more assertive in possession, attributes Chelsea’s fragile defence desperately needs.
If the Blues are serious about stabilising their rearguard, Senesi is a pragmatic, low-risk upgrade on what they currently have.
