Chelsea have the highest rated U21 player in the Premier League this season based on Who Scored statistics.

The youngster has just seen himself become the Stamford Bridge hero who scored the winning goal that saw Chelsea beat the Premier League Champions Liverpool on Saturday night in what was a very entertaining game of football.

Chelsea suffered injuries to two of their starting centre backs to add salt to the wounds of the injuries stacking up already. But even without both central defenders they were able to stay on the front foot, and they got their reward in the dying moments of the game when substitute Estevao slid in at the far post to put away Marc Cucurella’s cross and send the ground wild.

Chelsea have been easing Estevao into the team since he arrived in the summer, but it’s hard to not get very excited by the talent he has got and how he has been playing in a Chelsea shirt already.

He’s the type of player that Chelsea have lacked lately, the type of player who makes things happen from nothing and has that X-Factor about his game.

As reported by Who Scored, a stats based website, Estêvão is the highest-rated U21 player(6.96) in the Premier League this season so far.

And that’s without Chelsea even fully unleashing him yet!

A crucial role

With all the injury problems Chelsea currently have, Estevao is going to be playing a crucial role for the team in the coming games after the international break.

He’s knocking hard on the door for a regular starting place now anyway, and I think he will be getting just that.
