Chelsea in ‘contact’ with United to sign Garnacho, more talks ‘expected soon’ | OneFootball

Chelsea are interested in signing one of Manchester United’s prized assets this winter, according to reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Red Devils are braced for multiple exits before the transfer window closes on February 3.

The club are on course to offload Antony on loan to Real Betis, while Marcus Rashford could depart in a similar kind of deal before the deadline.

Alejandro Garnacho’s future has also been talked about, and Chelsea are hot on his trail.

The London heavyweights have made ‘direct contact’ with United to ask for conditions. More talks regarding the winger are ‘expected soon’.

The Blues are not alone in the pursuit. Napoli are also interested, and manager Antonio Conte has already spoken with Garnacho over a transfer.

United must not contemplate Garnacho’s exit

The 20-year-old had a solid 2023/24 campaign for the Red Devils with 11 goal contributions in the Premier League.

Garnacho has struggled to replicate his league form this season, with only four goal involvements in 21 appearances.

He is no longer a guaranteed starter in the wing-back system under manager Ruben Amorim.

Despite this, United should not contemplate his exit in the current transfer window due to his immense potential.

The Argentine has had some good moments operating as an attacking midfielder in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation.

The £42 million-rated star can adapt at his age. The club should at least keep him for the season.

Depending on the manager’s stance, a summer decision could be made on his future.
