Blues hoping to be boosted by returnees soon after another grim weekend
Chelsea’s push to qualify for the Champions League took another dent on Sunday as they were convincingly beaten by Manchester City, but Liam Rosenior can hope to be boosted by some fresh faces as the run-in intensifies.
While the Blues suffered a grim defeat as Pep Guardiola visited Stamford Bridge, they managed to come through the match with no fresh injuries and have three defenders threatening to make comebacks in the coming weeks.
With an FA Cup semi-final looming large on the horizon alongside potentially pivotal Premier League meetings with Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham, Liam Rosenior will hope to have as many players fit as possible.
With that in mind, here is all the latest Chelsea injury news and potential return dates...
Just a few days after signing a bumper new Chelsea contract, Reece James was struck down with a fresh hamstring injury.
That issue has seen him sidelined since March, his most recent appearance in a Chelsea shirt being the defeat by Newcastle on the 14th.
But he is now back on the grass and approaching a return to action.
“Reece has been running today, which is great,” said Liam Rosenior last week.
With James yet to return to full team training, it seems he may still be a matter of weeks away from a return to competitive football.
Potential return date: Late April/early May

Jamie Gittens had been closing in on a return from a hamstring injury as Chelsea geared up to face Port Vale in the FA Cup, but he was a surprise absence from the team sheet.
Rosenior revealed after that 7-0 drubbing that the winger had suffered a new hamstring injury and was facing another spell out.
“Unfortunately, Jamie, in training yesterday, picked up what looks like a hamstring injury again,” he said. “We have to scan him and make sure.
“It's a real shame for him, I think it's the third time it's happened. We need to help him and we need to make sure he's okay. I can't give you a time frame on that at the moment.”
It is a frustrating setback for the 21-year-old, who has endured a frustrating first season with Chelsea since joining from Borussia Dortmund last summer.
Potential return date: Unknown
Trevoh Chalobah suffered a nasty-looking ankle injury as Chelsea were routed by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League last-16 second leg.
His ankle was pictured pointing the wrong direction as his foot caught in the turf during a tackle on Achraf Hakimi, but he was arguably fortunate to come away with a high ankle sprain.

But he has already made his return to the pitch, and it is hoped he will soon feature in first-team training.
Rosenior said last week: “Trevoh (Chalobah) is working really, really hard. He is back on the pitch.”
It is unclear, though, when he might return to the pitch, though he will hope to be back in contention in the coming weeks.
Potential return date: Late April/early May
After a taxing summer with minimal time off, Levi Colwill was ruled out for the season before it had begun.
He ruptured his ACL and underwent surgery in pre-season.
But he may well make a comeback before the campaign is out. He returned to first-team training ahead of the March international break and is now working on building up his fitness ahead of making a competitive return.
Rosenior has poured cold water on an imminent comeback, though, saying he had more to ‘overcome’.
He said: “Levi (Colwill) is in full training but still needs to overcome some hurdles in terms of selection.”
Potential return date: May
Chelsea’s second-string goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen has not made a competitive appearance since his disastrous Champions League last-16 first-leg performance at the Parc des Princes.
He was dropped thereafter, but Rosenior has since revealed that he was actually sidelined with a groin injury which required a minor surgery.
“Filip had a scan and needed a minor operation,” he said. “Not too serious, a matter of weeks.”
