A Chelsea insider has been detailing the chances of Jamie Gittens being loaned out in the January transfer window.
The young winger has of course only just joined the ranks at this Chelsea side but he’s had a bad start indeed by all accounts.
It’s natural though for some players to take longer to find their feet than others will, and Gittens has come from the German league to the Premier League and clearly might need to extra time to adapt and find his feet at his new club.
There has now been some talk about Chelsea potentially loaning him out in the winter window so he can go and play and develop some more. It’s also something that the player might prefer to do if he feels he is not getting enough minutes in the first team to keep him content.
However, this is not something that Chelsea or Gittens are expected to want or even entertain, that is at least according to Chelsea insider for The Daily Mail, Kieran Gill.
Jamie Gittens moves down the flank for Chelsea.
Gill exclusively told Football Insider on where the club stand on the number 11 ahead of the January transfer window given his appalling start to life in the English top-flight.
He said: “I don’t think there’s any chance that Gittens gets loaned away in January.
“He’s only just joined, he’s 21, he’s new to the Premier League, and Chelsea want him and Garnacho competing on the left wing.”
As per the same report, Gittens has so far failed to make a positive impact under Enzo Maresca.
The 21-year-old has no goal involvements in seven appearances for the west London outfit, which has prompted doubts over his readiness to play in the Premier League.
