Blues were battered in late first-leg collapse at the Parc des Princes
Luis Enrique has explained why his Paris Saint-Germain team will “suffer” and could face a “problem” in next week’s Champions League last-16 second leg against Chelsea despite leading the tie 5-2 on aggregate.
Three goals in the final 15 minutes of a thrilling game at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night saw his PSG team take the game away from Chelsea and show they mean business as the defending European champions.
The 5-2 final score in the French capital means PSG are on the brink of the quarter-finals and the Blues are all but out.
However, Enrique has urged his team to keep scoring goals at next Tuesday’s second leg in Stamford Bridge where he expects Chelsea to make his team suffer.
“I can say I’m very happy, not only for the result but for our resilience,” he said after the first-leg win.
“They drew [back in] the match twice, and we kept insisting on winning the match.
“Today the expected goals was not that great but we scored five goals. Sometimes football surprises you in that way.”
Enrique continued: “The result is very good, but we are going to suffer in London.
“We are going to prepare that match the same way, with the same mentality, trying to score goals and win the match. It could be a problem if we think about the result like the match is finished. No, we still have to play another match.”
