Ecuador international has committed the next seven years of his career to the Blues

The Ecuador international has established himself as a world-class midfielder since moving to west London from Brighton in 2023, since helping win the Club World Cup and Conference League.

His performances have seen him rewarded with a new seven-year deal, which Standard Sport understands will see him move closer to the top end of Chelsea’s pay structure.

Caicedo will have spent a full decade with the club by the time he sees out his contract, and hopes that he will be considered a legend come the end of his time at Stamford Bridge.

He said: “I am so happy to have extended my contract at Chelsea. I believe in this team, this club and I know we’re going in the right direction. We’ve only just begun together.

“There is still a lot more to achieve, and I’m very hungry to keep improving every day. I want to win more trophies with Chelsea and give everything for this club and for the fans.

“We have enjoyed some great times together already and my dream is to become a Chelsea legend, and I will work as hard as possible to make that happen.”

Caicedo’s new deal is a considerable boost for Chelsea as dark clouds seem to be gathering over the club. On-pitch form has taken a nosedive, and supporters are planning yet another protest against the BlueCo ownership group ahead of this weekend’s match against Manchester United.

The news of his extension also comes in spite of his midfield partner Enzo Fernandez posturing to leave the club. The Argentine played a role in convincing Caicedo to join the club in the first place, but was slapped with a two-match suspension by Chelsea after refusing to commit his future to the club in various interviews during the March international break.
