Chelsea open talks to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens | OneFootball

Chelsea are moving forward in an effort to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens. Mike McGrath reports that the Premier League side have initiated talks with Dortmund to sign the Englishman with the idea of finalising a deal before the Club World Cup.

As reported via our colleagues at Get German Football News, Arsenal have also shown an interest in signing Gittens, a player that Borussia Dortmund expect to leave the club in the summer despite the club securing Champions League football.

Chelsea’s interest in Gittens comes following the uncertain future of Jadon Sancho. The former Borussia Dortmund player is on loan from Manchester United and after finishing fourth are obligated to buy Sancho for between £20m and £25m per McGrath, or pay a £5m penalty fee. The 25-year-old scored five goals and provided 10 assists in 42 games for Chelsea last season but it appears that they will instead turn their attention towards Gittens.

As reported by Ruhr Nachrichten, Dortmund would find it difficult to reject an offer of around €50m-€60m.
