Chelsea got a huge scare last night and one Blues player admits he’s never seen a team play like Lincoln City before.

Chelsea got lucky, there are no two ways about it. They were so poor against a League One opposition, but the home side deserve a lot of credit too because they were fantastic and did not deserve to be the losing side last night.

EXCLUSIVE! Cole Palmer now has NEW injury and will be out for a set time!

It needed two quick goals from Chelsea right after half time to turn the game on it’s head but even that didn’t feel enough as Lincoln went at the Champions of the World time and time again and looked close to grabbing another goal most of the second half really, especially at the end.

Enzo Maresca clearly went nuts at his players at half time and said something to spark his players back to life and make them fight for the result.

Lincoln were very good

They basically just went for it, played with more aggression, more urgency, and just wanted it more than Chelsea. The way they played was a bit unique as well, not needing to have loads of possession but pressing high and attacking quick and with numbers.

Gusto never seen it before

After the game, Chelsea defender Malo Gusto told The BBC (cited on X):

“The way that they play I have never seen that in my life before, but that is their qualities and they tried to win the game. So we had to deal with that and I think we did quite well today.”

It’s called football before the Pep Guardiola obsession took off, Malo!
