Chelsea are preparing to make a major splash this summer, with Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez emerging as a top target.

According to Fichajes, the Premier League team sees Fermin as the perfect addition to their squad as they look to take the next step after winning the 2025 Club World Cup.

Manager Enzo Maresca has reportedly placed him at the top of his wishlist, convinced that Fermin’s energy and technical quality could transform Chelsea’s midfield.

Maresca is building a new project and believes Fermin has the profile to fit seamlessly into his system.

Barcelona open to offers for Fermin

At Barcelona, the club is well aware of Chelsea’s growing interest in their young midfielder. After a season where he became one of La Liga’s brightest revelations, he is now considered untouchable by both Joan Laporta and new manager Hansi Flick.

The club’s message is clear that Fermin is not for sale. With the club already facing challenges regarding new signings, Barcelona view the midfielder as a cornerstone of their future.

However, Chelsea remain determined. Reports suggest they are willing to offer more than €50 million, hoping to tempt Barcelona into negotiations.

Chelsea’s plan to lure Fermin

It is said that Chelsea are promising Fermin, who is also wanted by PSG, a leading role in the team, something that may be harder for Barça to guarantee, especially with strong competition for midfield spots, including from Dani Olmo.

People close to Fermin say his focus is on succeeding at Camp Nou. But at the same time, they admit that if his playing time decreases, they won’t rule out exploring other options.

For now, Barcelona continue to stand firm, but the reality of their financial situation means that an even higher bid could force them to at least reconsider their position.
