Chelsea love a good Brighton hire, don’t they? News has just come out that they have hired yet another former Brighton employee this week.
Chelsea didn’t really make any big signings in January and in fact just added a young midfielder who is unlikely to play much at all this season. Other than that, they loaned out a few players, that’s it.
Joao Felix was one of the players who went out on loan to join AC Milan and despite a good start there, he has not had a good review in the last couple of games.
One player who is getting rave reviews though is versatile defender and midfielder Rentao Veiga, who joined Juventus on loan last month so he could play as a centre back. He is having a superb time there right now, and Juventus fans are urging their club to buy him on a permanent deal come the end of this season when his loan is up.
But fear not, they are hiring more staff and coaches to come in to the club instead!
Tom Taylor joins Chelsea!
Chelsea hire yet another former Brighton employee!
According to Training Ground Guru, Rangers Head of Performance Tom Taylor has left after 14 months to become Lead Physical Performance Coach at Chelsea.
Taylor will report into Director of Performance Bryce Cavanagh, who joined from the Football Association in October 2023, and lead Chelsea’s Physical Performance team.
Prior to working at Rangers, Taylor was Athletic Development and Reconditioning Coach at Brighton for more than four years. During that time, Taylor worked alongside Paul Winstanley, who is of course now a sporting director at Chelsea and seems to have a lot of power there, oddly.
