Chelsea are getting stuck back into training at Cobham after the end of the international break, where some players have been working through the whole week.

That apparently includes Axel Disasi, recently restored to first team training, following a surprise appearance for the Development Squad.. In a Q and A for the BBC today, Nizaar Kinsella was asked about what was going on there.

“I reported last week that Disasi is being rewarded for good behaviour behind the scenes and increased involvement at Chelsea,” Kinsella wrote on the BBC’s Chelsea page.

“He has played for the Under-21s and trained with the first-team squad. That opens the door to some minutes at senior level, but he remains for sale in January, and we should not forget that Benoit Badiashile is close to a return, which will further limit his opportunities.”

The idea that Badiashile is “close to a return” is interesting – we never really got a good timeline on his latest issue. While it’s good news that he’s on his way back, we’re sadly far beyond being able to trust his return. He’ll be out again before we know it.

As for Disasi, we’ve said before it’s all rather mysterious – the most likely explanation is that he’s just being given some minutes to help him get fit to find a move in January.

In the same interview, Kinsella also answered questions about Enzo Maresca’s future. There hasn’t been a huge amount of pressure on the Blues boss in recent weeks – but would that change should he take back to back defeats in huge game against Arsenal and Barcelona next week?

Emanuel Emegha won’t be at Chelsea until next summer, but by then he could be an important part of the Netherlands team after making his debut off the bench for the national team this week.
