Chelsea’s Harrison Murray-Campbell, Manchester United’s Shea Lacey and Lakyle Samuel of Manchester City have all been training with England’s senior squad.
The highly-rated teenage trio are all part of the Under-20s group under Ben Futcher preparing for a friendly match against Switzerland at St George’s Park on Friday.
However, all three were invited to work with Thomas Tuchel’s senior squad on Wednesday as they build up to Thursday night’s friendly clash with Wales at Wembley and next week’s trip to Latvia for their latest World Cup qualifier.
Murray-Campbell, Lacey and Samuel made up the numbers in senior training, with both captain Harry Kane and uncapped defender Jarell Quansah working through individualised programmes indoors having emerged as major injury doubts for the meeting with Wales.
England are also without Chelsea captain Reece James, who withdrew from the squad with an issue sustained in the last-gasp Premier League win over Liverpool on Saturday and was replaced by Manchester City’s Nico O’Reilly, who received his maiden senior international call-up after being promoted from Lee Carsley’s U21s ahead of their European Championship qualifiers against Moldova and Andorra.
The likes of Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Levi Colwill were omitted from the original squad due to injury, with other high-profile names such as Jude Bellingham, Jack Grealish, Adam Wharton and Phil Foden all not selected. However, Bukayo Saka is back following a hamstring injury.
Despite not being in the senior squad, Murray-Campbell, Lacey and Samuel will have relished the chance to leave a lasting impression on Tuchel, having all enjoyed promising reputations with their respective clubs.

A versatile defender who can play at centre-back or right-back, Murray-Campbell has been with Chelsea since under-8 level and is a key player for their U21s, having been handed a new two-year contract in August after making his first-team debut off the bench in the 5-1 Conference League victory over Shamrock Rovers at Stamford Bridge last December.
He featured for England at the European U19 Championship in Romania in the summer and later captained the U20s on his first appearance.
Winger Lacey, meanwhile, is from Liverpool but has been at Manchester United since the summer of 2023, featuring for the U18s and U21s as well as being drafted in to train with the first team and played for Ruben Amorim’s senior side in friendlies over the summer.
Like Murray-Campbell and Lacey, defender Samuel is also 19 and has been with Manchester City since under-9 level, previously captaining their U18s side and playing a key role in the Premier League 2 last term.
The son of former Aston Villa and Bolton full-back Jlloyd Samuel is currently on a season-long loan in League Two with Bromley, where he has made two senior appearances so far.
