Chelsea approach their Champions League meeting with Pafos with cautious optimism rather than full clarity. The mood around Chelsea has lifted following the return of several key figures to training, even if selection remains shaped by fitness management and forward planning.

Malo Gusto missed the weekend win over Brentford with a minor injury, while Jamie Gittens and Estevao were sidelined by illness that moved through the squad. All three, however, trained at Cobham on Tuesday and are expected to be available at Stamford Bridge. That alone alters the texture of Chelsea’s predicted lineup, offering balance and pace that was absent days earlier.

The notable absence remains Tosin Adarabioyo. The defender was missing from training after being withdrawn with a hamstring problem, an issue now expected to sideline him for weeks. Head coach Liam Rosenior confirmed the setback, saying, “Unfortunately for Tosin, there’s something in his hamstring which is going to rule him out for the next few weeks.”

There are further complications. Enzo Fernandez trained on Tuesday after playing through illness against Brentford, but Rosenior suggested a cautious approach, indicating he is unlikely to start. Axel Disasi was involved in training but remains outside the matchday picture due to a lack of recent minutes.

With a Premier League trip to Crystal Palace looming, rotation feels inevitable. Cole Palmer completed only his third full league match of the season at the weekend and is unlikely to be pushed again. Attention instead turns to Liam Delap. His presence at the pre match press conference is often a reliable indicator, pointing strongly towards a start.

In goal, Filip Jorgensen may be handed a rare opportunity ahead of Robert Sanchez, while the return of Gittens opens options across the attacking line. These calculated choices reflect a Chelsea side managing both workload and expectation.
