Chelsea have been linked with a swoop for Real Madrid star Rodrygo, despite the Blues not being particularly in need of a left winger.
However, Football London journalist Bobby Vincent has revealed that Chelsea are unlikely to move for Rodrygo.
“It seems very unlikely,” he said regarding the Chelsea links to Rodrygo, who continues to be sidelined under new Los Blancos boss Xabi Alonso.
He continued, “Some reports claim he is on over £280,000-a-week at Real Madrid and that just does not fit Chelsea’s model.
A move for Rodrygo to West London will come as a surprise, considering the Blues signed two left-wingers last summer and are also stacked on the right.
Alejandro Garnacho is finding his groove after initially struggling following his move to Stamford Bridge.
The Argentine has delivered four goals and assists in his last four outings.
Jamie Gittens is still taking his time, but there have been glimpses of that talent that made Chelsea splurge an eye-catching sum to snap him up last summer.
With the club still shaping its new-look attack, the Brazilian could have slotted seamlessly into the starting role on the left.
He offers the type of creativity and directness that fit Enzo Maresca’s system.
Garnacho could have developed under his wing, learning from a player with Champions League pedigree while gradually earning more minutes.
But that window of opportunity has passed.
The Blues have since invested heavily in wide options, and both Garnacho and Gittens are beginning to justify the faith placed in them.
Rodrygo’s wages and status now make him an ill-fitting target for a project focused on youth and sustainability.
Simply put, if the deal didn’t happen then, it’s hard to see it happening now.
Chelsea’s left flank is sorted, and Rodrygo’s Stamford Bridge dream, if it ever existed, looks dead in the water.
