Chelsea vs West Ham team news

Chelsea will be without five players for Monday’s London derby at Stamford Bridge.

Mykhailo Mudryk is still unavailable after he was provisionally suspended by the FA on December 17th for alleged doping.

Wesley Fofana may be sidelined for the rest of the season with a hamstring injury, while there has been no fresh update on Omari Kellyman’s status.

Benoit Badiashile and Romeo Lavia are expected to be out for a few more weeks, as they both battle thigh injuries.

In the visiting dugout, West Ham may miss seven players due to suspension or injury for their trip to west London.

Konstantinos Mavropanos and Michail Antonio are certainly going to be unavailable, with the former suspended, and the latter recovering from a broken leg after a horrific car accident at the end of December.

Jean-Clair Todibo and Crysencio Summerville are both doubtful for the game, while Niclas Fullkrug is still out for a matter of weeks.

Graham Potter is hopeful that two of his most important players, Lucas Paqueta and Jarrad Bowen, are back in contention against Chelsea, but whether they play will likely be a late decision.

Jackson’s dry patch

After netting eight goals and providing three assists in his first 13 Premier League games, Nicolas Jackson’s form has slumped for Chelsea.

He has managed just one goal in his last nine league games, as the Blues have slipped away from being title hopefuls to languishing outside of the top four.

They dropped to sixth place after losing to City last week and the goals have dried up for Enzo Maresca’s side in light of Jackson’s poor spell.

In their first 13 games, Chelsea scored 26 goals – two per game. But, since Jackson’s dry patch began nine games ago, they have managed just 14 – an average of 1.55 goals per game.

Cole Palmer has also slowed down in recent weeks, with just three goal contributions in his last eight games.

If Chelsea do not sort their issues out in front of goal, there is a real chance that Maresca’s bright start to the season is completely derailed, and that they will have to settle for a spot in the Europa League next season.
