Barcelona’s stance on Fermin Lopez is becoming increasingly clear as Chelsea continue to push for the young midfielder.
It must be noted that the Premier League side tabled a €40m offer, but the Blaugrana rejected it without hesitation.
However, according to The Guardian, in Spain, the feeling is that Chelsea will eventually need to raise their bid to well over €60m if they are serious about landing the 22-year-old.
It is known that Fermin met with Hansi Flick on Saturday morning, but stopped short of giving full assurances about his future.
Flick, speaking later in his press conference before Barça’s game against Rayo Vallecano, admitted that the situation remains unresolved.
“For the moment, he is here. I have spoken to him and I am convinced that he is going to stay, but I don’t know what will happen,” said the German coach.

The Blues, who recently missed out on signing Xavi Simons, see Fermin as a perfect fit to strengthen their midfield.
The problem, however, is that their first bid was dismissed outright, with Barça considering it far too low for a player they believe will be central to their future.
Within Barcelona, there is a growing frustration over the lack of clarity as the transfer window edges closer to its conclusion.
Flick and the sporting department continue to push for Fermin’s continuity, seeing him as a vital piece for the season ahead.
Still, the longer negotiations drag on, the more confidence Chelsea gain that they can exploit Barça’s fragile economic situation.
For now, Fermin remains a Barcelona player, but the tension lingers. Fans will be hoping that once the market closes, clarity finally returns, and one of their brightest young midfielders stays at Camp Nou.
