Arsenal fans have been very frustrated by their team’s work in the transfer market in the last few years.

Mikel Arteta has built a really good team and managed to compete in the Premier League and Champions League, but the sense is that he hasn’t been given the extra quality and depth to actually get over the top and win something.

That frustration has been compounded by watching Chelsea’s actions on the other side of London. The Blues have accumulated players at an unprecedented rate in the last few years, and while not all of them have worked out, nobody could accuse them of inaction.

Arsenal close in on Crystal Palace star

Ben Jacobs’ Tweet about Eberechi Eze.

Things may be shifting for the Gunners this summer though. Ben Jacobs has just brought the latest report on their action which claims they’re closing in on Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze. The attacker is described as “high in Arsenal’s thinking” as they look to add more attacking quality to their squad.

Arsenal still want Madueke even if Eze deal goes through

What has this got to do with Chelsea? Well the last few days have been full of chatter that Arsenal are going to sign Noni Madueke from us for £50m. The good news (for those Blues fans who want to see the winger sold) is that Jacobs insists that the Eze deal is “separate to the Noni Madueke talks).

So potentially the Gunners could sign both – and certainly the Eze deal happening doesn’t preclude what looks like an almost inevitable move for Madueke now.

It will remain to be seen whether this sale is a smart one by Chelsea, but given personal terms are agreed and all the top sources seem to say it’s still on, we wouldn’t worry about it collapsing now.
